What is the GER30?

CFDs, or Contracts for Difference, are derivatives that allow traders to easily gain long or short exposure to the price movements in various asset classes including forex, stocks, commodities, and in this case stock indexes.

The GER30 Index, or Dax 30, is the leading stock market index in Germany. It includes the 30 largest companies listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, weighted by market value, and was launched in 1988.

Prominent members of the index include BMW, Adidas, Bayer, Deutsche Bank, Lufthansa, SAP and Volkswagen.

CFDs on the GER30 are an excellent way to gain exposure to the largest companies in Germany, either as a long-term investor, or to trade the index as it rises and falls in the short term. It’s a great way to gain access to the top 50 German stocks, without having to go through the process of opening a brokerage account in Germany.

GER30 Historical data

The GER30 has been one of the strongest indexes in Europe, as Germany weathered the European crisis better than most economies in the region.

The Dax is skewed toward technology and manufacturing companies, and correlates well with the tech heavy Nasdaq index. The index has risen over 350% since the global financial crisis ended in 2009.
