We’ll help you with your first steps into the world of mobile trading with the most popular trading platform – MetaTrader 4.

This brief MetaTrader 4 tutorial will help you to:

  • Use your login details from your Eightcap welcome email;
  • Download the mobile MT4 version from the Play Store;
  • Install the MT4 app on your Android device;
  • Log into your trading account with Eightcap;
  • Switch between trading accounts;
  • Navigate through the mobile MT4 menu;
  • Open New Demo accounts on the MT4 app;
  • Modify charts and place trades on MetaTrader 4;

Step 1 – Your Welcome email for MT4 with Eightcap

The very first thing before trading is to set up a Live Trading Account registration with EightCap. Then you will receive a welcoming email that includes your MT4 and Eightcap credentials.

Your MetaTrader 4 credentials

As a new client, when you have completed your Live Trading Account registration with Eightcap you will receive a welcoming email. This email contains your login details for the MetaTrader 4: your Login Number, which is the same as your account ID with Eightcap, and the MetaTrader Password.

Your Client Portal credentials

As you read through the email, you will also notice that you have received credentials for the Eightcap Client Portal. The Portal’s dashboard is accessible online via Eightcap’s website. The email includes a direct link to the Portal, your personal Client Portal Password and Username (the email you registered with). From the Client Portal you can fund your trading account, withdrawal any profits, apply for a leverage change or update your personal details.

Step 2 – How to download and install MetaTrader 4 on Android

You can easily download MetaTrader 4 for iOS and Android devices. To get the Android MT4 app, please visit Google’s Play Store through and search for MetaTrader 4. Tap on the result once you see the MT4 icon.

The MT4 app page in the store will open.

Tap “Install” to automatically download and install the MetaTrader 4 app on your device.

When ready, select “Open” or open the app from the icon on your home screen.

The Quotes page in the MetaTrader 4 app will open automatically. If you have an internet connection and you have logged in successfully you will see live quotes continuously updating from the MetaQuotes Demo (it automatically loads when you install the app).

Step 3 – How to log into your MetaTrader account with Eightcap

To log out of the MetaQuotes account and to log into your Demo or Live account with Eightcap open the main menu from the top left corner.

Select “Manage accounts” at the top of the menu.

The Accounts page will open.

Here you can add new trading accounts and switch between accounts. The account that is currently activated is always on the top of the page. Select the “+” icon on the top to add a new account.

A menu giving you the option to either open a new Demo account or login to an existing (Live or Demo) account will open. Select ‘’Login to existing account’’.

A search box will appear. In the search box start typing “Eightcap-Demo” or “Eightcap-Real” if you have a Live account. The servers should appear as soon as you start writing. Select your account and make sure to choose the correct server, “Eightcap-Real” for Live Trading Accounts.

In the next window, you need to enter your account number and password for MetaTrader.

Go back to your email from Eightcap and copy your Password and Login Number (make sure you don’t copy any blank spaces).

Paste them in the login window. Make sure to tick “Save password” to enable automatic login when you switch accounts or re-open your trading platform.

How to switch between trading accounts

On the Accounts page you only need to tap on the account you want in order to open its login window. If you press and hold a context menu will give you the choice to Delete the account or log into it.

The menu in the right corner also enables you to delete accounts or change their passwords.

How to Open New Demo account on the mobile MT4 app

Go to the Accounts page and select the “+” icon again. The New Account menu will open. Select “Open New Demo Account”.

Fill in your personal details in the next window and choose account parameters from the drop-down menus. You can select a deposit amount ranging from 3000 to 5000000 and leverage from 1:25 to 1:500. As an account type, you can select either Standard or Raw accounts in AUD, USD, EUR, and NZD. For the MetaTrader 5 Demo, you can also select GBP, which is available for all Live accounts. At the moment Raw Demo accounts are not tradable, but they still showcase the Raw prices and specifications.

When you are ready, select “Create account”.

Manage your mobile trading account and place orders

Quotes on the MT4 app for Android

On the Quotes page in the MT4 app, you can see the BID and ASK prices of selected symbols in real time. At the bottom of the page, the main menu allows you to quickly switch between pages. In it, the Quotes page is represented by 2 arrows. From Quotes, you can open charts and place orders. To add more symbols to the list select the “+” icon and the folders with all available instruments for your account will open. Tapping on the symbol will add it to the Quotes and Charts pages.

Tap on the symbol you want to trade to open the context menu that allows you to open its chart and to place an order. Select “Symbol properties” to see its specifications including Contract size, margin, and Swap rates.

Tap “New Order” to place a trade. Before placing the order choose order type, lot size, Stop Loss and Take Profit.

If you have already placed a trade, thy symbol will be marked with a little triangle in the corner.

Charts on the MT4 app for Android

At the bottom menu, the Charts page is represented by a few candlesticks. On the chart, you can follow the current prices for different periods, and you can add indicators. With 2 fingers you can zoom in and out of the chart.

From the main menu, you can change the chart type.

Select “Settings” and then “Line type” to choose between Candlestick, Bar and Line chart.

From this menu, you can also modify the colours of the chart and which chart elements are displayed.

You can also configure the notifications and sounds.

At the top menu of the Charts page, you can see a few icons. The first one, which looks like a cross, activates the Crosshair mode that enables you to drag the pointer to locate an exact price at a precise date anywhere on the chart.

The second icon looks like “f”. It gives you access to various indicators that you can add to your chart. Tap on the activated indicator to configure it. Tap on the “+” to open the list of indicators to add new ones.

The third icon “$”, opens a drop-down menu, from which you can switch between the different symbols that you have enabled from the Quotes page.

Similarly, the clock icon allows you to change the time period. The last “+” icon allows you to place new orders.

Trades on the MT4 app for Android

The single arrow from the main menu represents the Trade page. When you tap on it you will be able to see your trading account balance, equity, and margin in real time.

Here you can find the positions that you have opened and your current profits from them. Tap on the order to see more details. Hold to close or modify the order.

History on the MT4 app for Android

The box icon from the main menu gives you access to the History of your account. Here you can keep track of your deposits, balance and all closed trades.

Select the calendar from the top menu to set a custom history period.
