Eightcap does not charge any internal fees for deposits or withdrawals. Keep in mind that the provider you use might charge you a transaction fee and/or international processing/conversion fee.

In addition to spreads, we charge commissions for share CFDs and overnight and triple swaps where swap rates are tripled on a Wednesday to account for the settlement of trades over non-trading days.

Eightcap equips traders with advanced platforms like MetaTrader 4 and 5, market insights, risk management tools and educational resources to help you trade smarter. Plus, our support team is here to assist you every step of the way.

The minimum trade size for FX pairs is 0.01 lot (1,000 units of the base currency).

• 0.01 lot = 1,000 units
• 0.1 lot = 10,000 units
• 1 lot = 100,000 units

Our pricing is derived from several top-tier liquidity providers who stream prices to our platform.

You are responsible for monitoring your positions at all times. We do not offer guaranteed stop-loss orders.

• You will receive a platform notification when your equity falls to 80% of required margin. You may deposit additional funds to maintain or open positions.
• If your equity falls to 50% or below, positions will be automatically liquidated, starting with the largest losing position.

You should not rely on automatic liquidation to manage risk. We strongly recommend using risk management strategies, including stop-loss orders (note: stop-losses are not guaranteed and may be subject to slippage in volatile markets).

We provide MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MetaTrader 5 (MT5), TradingView and TradeLocker.

Each platform offers a different trading experience, so choose based on your preferences and strategy.

If you have no free margin:

• You cannot open new positions.
• Existing positions may be stopped out.
• Your account balance can fall to zero if losses equal or exceed your available funds.

CFDs are high-risk products that involve using borrowed money (leverage) to trade. This means you can lose the entirety of your initial investment if the market doesn’t go your way. It’s important to have a solid risk management strategy in place. Trade smart and stay informed.

Your total position size (exposure) is calculated by:

Index/asset price × point value (or tick value) × number of CFDs

For example, you purchase 1 CFD on the ASX 200 at an index level of 5,750.

If 1 point = AUD 1:

• You make AUD 1 for every point the index rises.
• You lose AUD 1 for every point the index falls.
• Total position size (exposure) = 5,750 × 1 = AUD 5,750

This means a 100% move relative to the entry level (5,750 points) would equal AUD 5,750, which represents the full position value.

If instead:

• 1 point = AUD 10 → Exposure = 5,750 × 10 = AUD 57,500
• 1 point = AUD 25 → Exposure = 5,750 × 25 = AUD 143,750

Your profit or loss is calculated by multiplying the number of points moved by the point value.

Alternative calculation: Decimal tick sizes

In some cases, the minimum tick size is measured in decimal movements (to the right of the decimal point).

For example, CFDs on the S&P 500 may trade in 0.1-point or 0.01-point increments.

If the S&P 500 is trading at 2,660:

• If tick size = 0.1 and 1 tick = $1 → There are 10 ticks per full point → Position size = 2,660 × 10 × $1 = $26,660
• If tick size = 0.01 and 1 tick = $1 → There are 100 ticks per full point → Position size = 2,660 × 100 × $1 = $266,600

While these figures may appear high, in practice a single tick is often worth $0.10 or $0.01, which significantly reduces the actual exposure.

CFDs are leveraged over-the-counter derivative products that allow you to speculate on price movements of global markets like forex, stocks, commodities and cryptocurrencies, without owning them.

Popular markets often have high liquidity and are widely covered by news and analysis, providing more information to support decision-making.

Commodity prices are primarily driven by supply and demand dynamics, geopolitical tensions, weather patterns, global economic growth and the strength of the US dollar.

When you trade share CFDs, you don't own the underlying share, but you may receive a dividend adjustment. If you hold a long position on the ex-dividend date, you'll receive an adjustment; if you hold a short position, you'll pay one.

Forex, major indices, shares, gold, oil and leading cryptocurrencies are among the most actively traded CFD markets.

Share prices are driven by company earnings reports, dividend announcements, industry news, economic data and overall market sentiment.

Index prices are moved by factors affecting the broader economy or a specific sector, such as interest rate decisions, geopolitical events, economic data (like GDP and inflation) and the collective performance of the companies within the index.

Forex markets are influenced by many factors, including interest rate changes, inflation data, political stability and economic growth reports. Our economic calendar helps you track these key events.

Forex markets are among the most actively traded markets globally and offer broad market coverage. Currency markets are widely analysed, providing data and insights that may help inform trading decisions.

Eightcap does not charge any internal fees for deposits or withdrawals. Keep in mind that the provider you use might charge you a transaction fee and/or international processing/conversion fee.

Market gapping refers to a price jump in an asset (e.g. currencies, indices, commodities) between two trading periods where no transactions occurred.

A gap is the difference between an asset’s closing price in one session and its opening price in the next. Gaps most commonly occur overnight or over weekends but can also happen during shorter timeframes in volatile conditions.

Margin requirements depend on leverage, instrument and position size. You can use our margin calculator to estimate the margin needed.

Swap rates are tripled to account for weekend financing, as markets are closed and swaps cannot be charged on non-trading days.

Triple swap timing depends on the asset class:

• Forex: Wednesday
• Stocks, Indices and Commodities: Friday
• MT4: Swaps cannot be applied over the weekend, so charges triple on Friday.

We do not charge fees on FX or CFD trades. However, overnight positions may incur swap charges.

Fees and commissions vary by instrument and account type. For full details, visit our Compare costs page and select the relevant instrument to view swap rates, fees and commissions.

Leverage depends on the Eightcap entity your account is registered under and whether you are classified as a Retail or Professional client.

Spreads are the difference between the bid (buy) price and the ask (sell) price of an asset. They represent the cost of opening a trade and are measured in pips or points.

Swap rates are rollover interest rates (that's earned or paid) for holding positions overnight. Learn how swap rates are calculated.

Overnight financing (swap) charges are applied at the New York close, which is 00:00 platform time.

We offer cash CFDs, which do not have an expiry date.

As CFDs are traded on margin, you will pay or receive overnight financing based on the relevant benchmark rate for the currency in which the position is denominated. You may hold the position for as long as you choose, provided margin requirements are maintained.

No, Eightcap does not pay interest on any funds held in trading accounts.

The stop-out level is triggered when your account equity falls to 50% of the required margin for your open positions.

At or below 50%:

• Positions are automatically liquidated
• Closures begin with the largest losing position

You should not rely on automatic liquidation to manage risk. We strongly recommend implementing exit strategies and stop-loss orders. Stop-loss orders are not guaranteed and may be subject to slippage in volatile markets.

The bid price is the ‘quote price’ a trader or investor can sell at and the ask price is the quote price a trader/investor can buy at.

When trading CFDs, you are required to deposit only a percentage of the total contract value. This percentage is known as the margin requirement.

Margin allows you to gain full exposure to the position while committing a fraction of its value. However, your account must also maintain sufficient free equity to cover potential losses and avoid a margin call.

Leverage can magnify both gains and losses.

Live clients can access a margin calculator in the Client Portal.

Leverage allows you to control a larger position with a smaller deposit by borrowing funds from your broker.

It is expressed as a ratio. For example, with $100 and leverage of 1:30, you can gain exposure to up to $3,000 in positions.

Leverage can amplify both profits and losses.

Margin is the amount of funds required to open and maintain a leveraged position.

When trading on margin, you are using borrowed funds to increase your market exposure. This allows you to open larger positions, but it also increases risk.

Long position: You are buying an instrument, expecting the price to rise. Short position: You are selling an instrument, expecting the price to fall.

For example:

• Buying 1 lot of AUD/USD = Long 100,000 AUD against USD
• Selling 1 lot of USD/GBP = Short 100,000 USD against GBP

Swap rates are calculated automatically within the trading platform.
