This week was a touch choppy for the USD and risk majors. The AUD cut back from gains after a weaker CPI data release and firmer USD.

This week, the U.S. Dollar (USD) continues its charge higher after breaking out of its midweek deadlock. Flash PMI data mainly disappointed with U.K. and U.S. data missing, while French and German services missed expectations.

It was another positive week for the U.S. Dollar (USD) as retail sales surprised to the upside, and the Fed continued its hawkish tone after the FOMC minutes.

The week started on a nervous note with more downgrades of US banks. The USD lifted on the news, and stock indices mainly traded lower.

The U.S. downgrade rattled confidence in stock markets. Selling continued into Thursday, but U.S. indexes found some reprieve after positive earnings data.

It was a surprising week with the USD making a fightback against risk, ending the week weaker with Gold and lots of action coming from the JPY this Friday.
